A letter of recommendation is NOT required for your Rice Study Abroad application.

You only need to request one if you would like to be considered for one of our SCHOLARSHIPS (merit or need-based).

Most program providers / host universities require a "Program Approval" that can only be completed by your study abroad advisor.

One week before your program deadline, you must first complete BOTH the Rice Study Abroad and the external program application before your advisor can complete the approval.

Remember to check if your external program application has an earlier final deadline than ours. If so, you'll also need to submit your Rice Study Abroad application by that earlier deadline. It is your responsibility to check this!
