Overview
Established in 1959 by Argentine naval officers, the Instituto Tecnólogico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) has grown to be a recognized leader in the field of research and development of technology in Argentina, as well as a producer of highly trained graduates who occupy top positions both nationally and internationally. Its annual rate of graduation constitutes approximately ten percent of all graduating engineers within the country.
ITBA is especially strong in the fields of Engineering, Technology and Management. Renowned nationally as the number one private technological university, ITBA operates closely with research commissions related to national government, business and other areas of society.
The University is known for its academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and a practical outlook. Small classes with low student to faculty ratios ensure personalized attention and a friendly atmosphere. Rice students are expected to be highly proficient in Spanish, as courses are taught in Spanish.

Student Life
Known as the "Paris of the Americas," Buenos Aires produces music, theater, and dance that are unsurpassed in Latin America. The city rivals other major world capitals in the cultural activities available to its residents. You will find an abundance of activities such as folk music and dances, symphonies, plays, jazz concerts, museums and one of the world's finest opera houses, the Teatro Colon. The national dance, the tango, is practiced throughout the city and represents the elusive spirit of Argentina. The city also boasts numerous museums related to history, fine arts, modern arts, decorative arts, popular arts, sacred art, arts and crafts, theater and popular music, as well as the preserved homes of noted art collectors, writers, composers and artists.
Housing
ITBA does not offer on-campus accommodation. Hence, each student is responsible for making his/her own living arrangements. The suggested accommodation includes different types of housing available for students in the city of Buenos Aires: hostels, bed + breakfasts, student residences, home stays, apartments, and hotels. ITBA is not affiliated with any of these resources and will not be held liable for any problems arising from a student´s stay there.
Location
Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is one of the largest cities in the world with an approximate eleven million people living within the city limits and in the surrounding areas. The campus is centrally located along the wharf in the Puerto Madero district.
